MEET THE LOCALS
Everybody knows everybody Somewhere Downstream.
Whether they want to or not.

PHIL T. BEAVER
Phil has never met a problem that couldn't be improved by a dam good idea. As the relentlessly optimistic force behind Beaver Butt Brewing Co., he's usually the first to suggest a solution—and occasionally the reason a solution is needed in the first place.
“That’s a tomorrow problem.”
DAKOTA
Dakota is the guy who makes sure Somewhere Downstream actually works. Organized, practical, and almost impossible to rattle, he handles the plans, schedules, logistics, and whatever else Phil forgot to think about. Dakota believes in Phil. He just believes in guardrails, too.
“I've already handled it.”
DAISY
Daisy has never met a moment that couldn’t become a story. Energetic, adventurous, and usually carrying a camera, she handles the social media and promotion around Somewhere Downstream. If Phil has a dam good idea, Daisy is probably already taking pictures of it—and figuring out how to make it sound even better than it was.
“If it’s a good story, let’s make it an unforgettable one.”
LANCE
Lance stopped Somewhere Downstream for a beer once and, as far as anyone can tell, never left. Does he work? Nobody’s sure. Yet he always seems to have money for another round, a snarky comment for whoever’s buying, and inside information about something the rest of town supposedly isn’t ready to hear. Lance knows what’s really going on. Just ask him.
“That's what they want you to think.”
WALTER
Walter remembers when Somewhere Downstream was smaller, quieter, and—according to Walter—better. The town’s unofficial historian, he has a story for every building, every family, and every bad idea that’s already been tried at least once. He’s been warning everyone for years. About what, exactly, depends on the day.
“Told ya. Years ago.”

ROSIE
Rosie is the one who keeps the beer—and usually everyone around her—on track. Warm, capable, and endlessly patient, she brings equal parts science, instinct, and heart to every batch. When Phil’s latest dam good idea starts getting away from him, Rosie is often the calm voice reminding everyone why they’re here in the first place.
“Good beer brings people together. Great beer makes it worth it.”
ARCHIE
Archie is Phil’s older brother, which means he’s been fixing Phil’s ideas longer than anyone. Practical, stubborn, and armed with decades of experience, Archie builds, repairs, and keeps Somewhere Downstream standing. He doesn’t say “I told you so” nearly as often as he could—but mostly because everybody already knows.
“If it’s broke, I’ll fix it. If it ain’t broke, I’ll improve it.”
KAREN
Karen has standards. Phil has ideas. This has been a source of tension Somewhere Downstream for longer than either of them cares to discuss. Sharp, practical, and spectacularly unimpressed by nonsense, Karen is usually the first person to point out the flaw in Phil’s latest dam good idea. The irritating part is that she keeps showing up to help anyway.
“Phil, no.”
COUSIN JOEY
Nobody is entirely sure whose cousin Joey actually is. He may be grizzled, but he’s still hiking farther, moving faster, and having more fun than people half his age. He’ll disappear down a trail for days, come back with three new friends, five new stories, and somehow an ice cream cone. Somewhere Downstream stopped asking where he gets them.
“You coming, or are you gonna stand there getting older?”
